One of my best friends got me into woodworking over 20 years ago. She coached me patiently and and we spent many hours in her wood shop making tons of things with her scroll saw. Over the years I’ve learned how to use different tools making home repairs and improvements with my husband. Together we have taken on the challenges of being as DIY as possible.
In 2005 we took on a large wood working project on our homestead and built a 30 x 40 pole barn with an expansion shed. It took about 3 years from start to finish. About 85% of the wood for our barn is from our property. It was a dream come true. Back then our daughter owned our beloved horse Sarada, and the old grey mare needed a shelter. It was a sweet, super fun project.
Our current project is building my mom a tiny house, which has been a major group effort, led by our family, friends, and even some strangers. Early on our family pitched in and we got enough donation money from her go fund me to put a good down payment down on a trailer. Just 3 weeks ago (August 7th) we began building on it.
The family gave us an amazing start, but right now I am back in the fund raiser mode. I will be crafting pizzas and workshops to help me raise money to finish moms house. Watch for a pizza party event if you would like to participate.
